This is a follow-up to a previous post, 529 Plans: Another Way to Save. The day after posting I opened an Oregon 529 plan. Thus far, things have been working great. I’m automatically deducting $25 from my checking account the 15th of every month, an amount I barely notice.
Even though my portfolio is down 10.6% [...]

In addition, I have a “high yield” savings account with Emigrant Direct, and a Prosper account too (which I’m currently pulling my funds out of). I also have adequate emergeny savings.
What other [...]

I stumbled across this article today, and I thought it was an interesting read. Rather than just appling this to becoming a ‘billionaire’ you can also apply these rules to most entrepreneurs.
… a ravenous appetite for risk
… a deep passion and a point of view about the future
I think that most young entrepreneurs like [...]
High yield savings accounts – not so high yield anymore

Logging into my Emigrant Direct account today I noticed, to my dismay, they had once again lowered their yield on the American Dream Savings Account – now down to 3.30%. Yikes! It looks like HSBCDirect is still holding at 3.55%, but I except their yield to drop quickly as well.
I have to admit, it’s a [...]
